OVERVIEW: Joyoushout offers year round, evolving opportunities for youth and adults to explore, navigate, make, and celebrate change, intersectionality, multiple identities, and our "superpowers" in safe, brave, joy-filled, and caring community spaces. Together we nurture critical awareness, creativity, courage, problem solving, communication, and the leadership skills that we need to be change makers in our schools, communities, and world. All workshops include expressive art and nature based connective practices and are shaped with input from participants.
Gratitude to Carolina Friends School Extended Learning for hosting Change Makers camps since 2007!
Change Makers Challenge (Grades 5-12) Coming again to CFS this August!
In this immersive project based workshop series, also offered as a week long CFS summer program, participants connect virtually and in person with change makers, educators, creatives, and healers in our communities to explore our multiple identities, the systems we live in, and the inner and outer historical and current forces for change working to help us create a more just, peaceful, and caring world. We then work collaboratively to create ongoing community care, social justice, and cultural exchange projects using one or more of the following: visual and performing art, writing, story and wisdom circles, oral histories, meditative and peace practices, expressive art, and mutual resource exchanges. Find out how you can bring this program to your school or community both virtually and in person!
